I did a spoof sign once. Just before the trains were split up. I saw a sign on a door at the end of Euston station which said "This door is alarmed." to which I stuck an addition reading "at the prospect of privatisation." It lasted a whole week!
So, the identity of the shoe monkey is revealed at last... Tell me. Do you know the sock badger? People would pay good money to find his lair!
